Our family’s hummus recipe passed down through generations, now stocked in grocery stores and served in food service settings across NYC.
A Family Recipe Since 1999
Arabian Nights began in in Taos, New Mexico, when our mother, Heyam, started making hummus from her Palestinian family recipe. What started in our home kitchen quickly grew into a local staple, with our hummus carried in grocery stores and markets across New Mexico and Colorado.
Our mom ensured that us kids would do our part to support our family while affirming our heritage as Palestinians in the diaspora. Over the course of 20 years, all six of us–Juju, Majdo, Nadeen, Tareq, Khaled, and Abdul–became well-versed in every step of the production process. Learning to craft hummus, tabbouleh, babaganoush, and other traditional foods by hand became a core part of each of us.
Now that we’re all grown up and spread around the country, we’ve decided to revive Arabian Nights Foods, making hummus the same way we always have. As we continue to hand-craft delicious, healthy, and home-spun hummus, we hope you will enjoy gathering around your table to enjoy a taste of our household.
The kitchen has always been the heart of the Khweis family. Food is how our family connects to culture, community, and each other. Sharing meals was never just about eating, it was about bringing people together.
We carry that forward in every batch we make, with the same care, ingredients, and intention. We hope you enjoy it as much as our community has over the years.
